Intel Goes Turbo Again

BBC News announced Intel’s new processors for 2009 onwards today- the Nehalem range.

These processors will take Intel through to the next decade, balancing high performance and energy efficiency- two things that don’t usually go hand-in-hand. Amongst the features of the new range of chips, this one rang a bell:

Nehalem is also able to ramp down its power demands thanks to a “turbo mode” that turns off parts of the chip that are not being used.

“Turbo Mode”- this sounds remarkably familiar. Will the new range of PCs come fitted with a turbo button?
